July 12, 2025 Yaquina Head Oustanding Natural Area

Led most expertly by Ram Papish, 27 intrepid birders headed into the fog and cold wind on this July morning at the Yaquina Head Outstanding Nature Preserve. Many of us were underdressed for the conditions and, while the fog did dissipate, the cold wind did not, and our number dropped to 18 or so by the end of the walk. The birding was good, however, with 22 species recorded.

Along the way, we encountered a student researcher from OSU doing egg and hatchling counts. Thanks to our tour guide system, Mr. Papish was able to share her valuable input with the entire group, which was appreciated by all.
