Volunteer with us!

As a volunteer-led organization, we’re always looking for help! If you’d like to support our work through volunteering, please scroll through the following list of available opportunities and submit the form below to get in touch with us!

Bird Walk Lead/Co-lead

Volunteering as a bird walk lead or co-lead is a great way to support beginner birders on our scheduled monthly bird walks. You will help others identify birds, give tips on spotting with binoculars, and encourage safe birding etiquette. Safe birding etiquette includes:

  • Keep a responsible distance from wildlife

  • Help keep litter off our trails

  • Always stay on the trail

  • Respect your fellow birders

Osprey Ambassador

As an SCBA Osprey Ambassador you will  have the key role of observing a single nest during the Osprey breeding season, approximately mid-March through September, recording nest activity (or nest failure) and providing data to SCBA for reporting. This role requires a minimum time commitment of approximately 1 hour (three or more 15-20 min observations) each week.

You will need:

• Transportation to the nest site (unless you are lucky enough to live nearby!)

• A pair of binoculars or spotting scope

• Observation log sheet and pencil/pen or access to a cell phone for online reports

• Watch or device with a clock to note the duration of your nest visit

• Camera (optional)

• Please note: Drones are not allowed as they pose a serious threat to the birds

Board Member

As a volunteer run organization we rely on member volunteers to support our efforts. If you are already a member and would like to be a part of our board, please contact us at info@sevencapes.org.

Outreach and Community Engagement Volunteer

Build community awareness through sharing information and public outreach at community events like farmers markets, local festivals, and partner events. Outreach and Community Engagement Volunteers staff our table at these events and talk to community members about our work and current efforts. Materials including display, handouts, tables, canopy, and anything else needed for the event are provided.

Education Volunteer

Our chapter is expanding our education efforts, and we need dedicated volunteers to help grow the program. We're active with seniors, adults, and school-aged children (K-12) in the classroom and outdoors. In addition, we organize and lead our bird walks and respond to requests for ad hoc field trips and presentations in Lincoln and Tillamook Counties. We're looking for volunteers for everything from helping to coordinate programs to teaching to assisting with walks or classes.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

We are currently developing new volunteer opportunities that will be available soon! These opportunities include but are not limited to:

  • Rocky Habitat Interpreter at one of three Marine Conservation Areas

  • Junior Rocky Habitat Interpreter for students in 9th-12th grade
