On a picture-perfect morning, 37 birders gathered at Lint Slough, a new Seven Capes bird walk location near Waldport. A juvenile Osprey soared overhead to greet the group as Leaders Liz Laver-Holencik and Zack Schlanger guided them through habitats ranging from wetland to forest to the nearby water treatment plant. Sightings of Belted Kingfishers, Steller's Jays, Barn Swallows, Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, and Mallards were complemented by the teasing calls of Wrentits in the brush. The bird watchers were being watched themselves by a nest of two raccoons high overhead!
