You read that your USA labeled fish is sustainable, but how do you know?  Learn about the monitoring that happens in the United States from someone who was on the boats.  Newly elected Yaquina Birders and Naturalist President Sylvia Pauly worked for 12 years as a groundfish observer out of Newport, OR.  She'll share photographs, science, and adventures from this work.  

Sylvia worked with wildlife for 15 years throughout western Oregon.  She eventually settled in Newport where she worked on fishery surveys.  She also worked in the visitor center at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
