Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a seabird in a show?  Join Yaquina Birders & Naturalists for an engaging look into the life of wildlife rehabilitation as CJ McCarty shares the history of pelicans at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the joys and the challenges the bird team has faced, what has been accomplished so far, and where they hope to go from here.  She will also talk about wild pelicans and the natural history and conservation messages they share with audiences of all ages.

CJ McCarty has been the Curator of Birds at the Oregon Coast Aquarium since 2007. While obtaining her Bachelor's degree in zoology from University of Washington, CJ started her career as a zoo keeper  working with beluga whales and walruses at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. CJ has been working with birds for the past 25 years. While she did spend six years in UAE working with the threatened houbara bustard, primarily her focus has been seabirds.  Most recently she enjoys socializing, training, and educating about the amazing brown pelican.
