Audubon Society of Lincoln City is hosting our annual Migratory Bird Day festival on Saturday May 13th. This year, our focus is on Osprey and Snowy Plover - two birds that rely heavily on water for their well-being.
We plan to open the day with a guided bird walk at Sitka Sedge State Natural Area to look for Snowy Plover and other birds - we have fun handouts and stickers for participants. Binoculars and field guides are available to borrow. We will meet at Sitka Sedge at 10am.
In the afternoon, we will be hold our festival at the Oregon Coast Community College in Lincoln City. Starting with a walk to a nearby Osprey nest, where we will learn more about our neighbors the Osprey including handouts and stickers. Back at the college, we'll have fun activities for children and adults, along with visiting raptor ambassadors from Chintimini Wildlife Rescue. After a break for snacks, we have two presentations - one on Snowy Plover by expert Roy Lowe, and another on Osprey. See the complete schedule below.
We will have door prizes and other goodies for all attendees.
No registration is required for any of our events.
This year’s theme for Migratory Bird Day is water, the essence of life that we are surrounded by here on the Oregon Coast. Learn more about World Migratory Bird Day and this year’s theme here.
