The Yakona Nature Preserve & Learning Center is a privately owned property located on Yaquina Bay in Newport, with limited public access. It includes both deep forests and bay frontage. The walk is moderately difficult with some elevation gain and some steep trails.

Location: Meet at the locked gate at the end of SE 40th/SE Harborton near Wolftree Brewery in South Beach (near the OCCC Central Coast Campus). Arrive at 8:45 a.m. to carpool onto the property.

Directions: From HWY 101 in South Beach, turn east on NE 40th St and continue straight onto SE Harborton St for 0.8 mi. You will come to a locked gate where we will meet to carpool.
