Introducing Birding by D River!
This summer, Seven Capes is excited to offer even more opportunities to go birding with us! We’re introducing Birding by D River, mini bird walks every first and third Saturday from June 6 to August 15. From 10-11:30 a.m., Seven Capes volunteers will meet at Hostetler Park on D River to guide these public walks, help identify birds, and answer questions. Loaner binoculars will be available.
Centrally located in Lincoln City, Hostetler Park is easily accessible with opportunities to see a variety of bird life including waterfowl, songbirds, and raptors. From our meeting point at D River, we’ll walk along a hidden boardwalk through bountiful wetland habitat that connects to the Devils Lake State Recreation Area campground. As time permits, we’ll continue through the campground to the Devils Lake dock. Here we might be lucky enough to see an Osprey fishing the waters, while swallows dip overhead and herons guard the shore.
Our monthly bird walks have been especially well attended in the summer, so we hope that these mini bird walks give us the chance to connect with even more “bird nerds,” locals and visitors alike!
All are welcome to attend, including beginner birders, weekend visitors, and families. Please leave dogs at home. There is plenty of parking at Hostetler Park, and bathrooms are available at the campground. The terrain is mostly flat with slight elevation change and includes gravel road and trail, boardwalk, and paved road. These walks are free to the public, no registration required.
