October 13, 2023 The Villages and Roads End State Park
Mark Elliott led 9 birders through the woods and to the beach. For some this was a new experience. As we walked we could identify some by ear as well as sight. We saw a variety of birds even though the season is changing.

It was a damp, dismal day but 9 hardy folks joined us for a walk through The Villages Open Space, through the woods and along Sal a Sea drive to the Road's End park. We could hear birds singing and chittering all along the way, but few came out for us to see well. Visibility was poor at the beach, but we were rewarded by a distant view of a small group of shorebirds.

It was too wet for cameras. We had about 10-12 birders and considering the weather saw some interesting birds.
First bird of the day was the Olive-sided Flycatcher. When we arrived at the beach, we were surprised to see a pair of Black Oystercatchers
on the beach and you could tell by the birds that were present it was "migratory bird day" for Mew Gull, Bonaparte’s Gull, Dunlin, etc.

September 26, 2015 Villages at Cascade Head
It turned out to be a beautiful day for the walk, in the woods, to the Pacific Ocean, and back.
There were 8 of us that met on this perfectly sunny day.
It is the time of year when some birds are passing through and some are beginning to show up.
We saw a little of both. The whales even showed up to give us all a thrill.

July 17, 2015 Village at Cascade Head Open Space Bird Walk
There were 12 birders on this walk and it was a calm and sunny day. The weather was wonderful for us as well as the birds. We kept adding to the list as we walked slowly through this space to the Pacific Ocean. Visitors from out of town were impressed with our Open Spaces and expressed how fortunate we were to have such a spot so close to the city.
